  • How to Prepare for Your First Nudist Experience

Are you fascinated by the nudist (naturist) lifestyle, but are hesitant to dive right in? If so, you’re probably like a lot of people who are interested in shedding their inhibitions. But doing so is not always as easy as it seems. Nudist and naturist communities aren’t exactly what people think they are. While many people have the idea that these communities are filled with extraordinarily beautiful individuals (aren’t we all beautiful?) and lots of open sex, the reality couldn’t be farther from the truth. There are actually quite a few benefits to exploring these environments. But before deciding to visit, there are some definite ways to prepare your mind for the shock. Here are some ideas…

    Get a full body massage.

If you’ve never had a full body massage, now is probably the time to consider getting one. Firstly, shedding your clothes and allowing someone you don’t know to massage you is a great way to get accustomed to having strangers in your “personal space” when you’re undressed. Most nudist environments aren’t necessarily about physical contact. But being undressed around a person you don’t know can be quite intimidating. Getting a massage in private environment might help to break down some initial barriers.

Visit a public spa, steam room, or sauna.

Take things a step further by visiting a place where there are other nude/semi-nude people around you. Even if you’re uncomfortable taking it all off as you sit in a public whirlpool or sauna, being around others who are not will help to expose you to this kind of intimate environment. Sometimes merely being in the company of those who are uninhibited about their bodies will help you to become acclimated to the idea of public nudity.

Wear a little less at the beach, pools, or water parks.

Many people who are curious about naturist environments are also body conscious. But you would be surprised to discover that these communities are filled with people from all walks of life; they come in all shapes and forms. Without pushing the limits of decency, you might want to consider wearing a little less than you normally do at beaches or pools. Obviously, this pertains to the person who needs full bathing regalia (huge one piece suits, large T-shirts, or Moo-Moos) in order to set foot in public waters. Shedding a layer or two may help you to become more comfortable in your own skin—since that’s all you’d be wearing at a nudist colony.

    Do your research…

You should also keep in mind that all nudist environments are not alike. Some are very exclusive. Others cater to people who are interested in specific activities. There are also environments that welcome the general public in a more undefined way. Visiting some websites to understand the subculture and philosophy behind naturist environments will most certainly help you to understand what they’re all about. It might also benefit you to call a few, and speak directly to an activity for facility director. You might be pleasantly surprised to discover that there are more people like you who are interested, than the free-spirited individuals who already attend. Merely talking to an experienced nudist could help you to shed your own apprehensions.
