  • Where Do Nudists Keep Their Hankies? … and Other Naughty Questions You Always Wanted Answered [Paperback]

As the title suggests, there are dozens of ‘naughty’ questions answered, dealing with everything from trivial sexual questions to discussing the greatest lovers and perverts in history. The book has answers about men falling asleep after sex, and/or thinking about sex constantly. Ever wonder what all those letters and numbers mean in porn and escort sites? I found the book interesting and fun, and a pleasure to read and to get conversations cooking with your friends and family. Author Symons is a ‘kick’ and knows how to keep the chuckles rolling and to keep the reader wanting more. I read it at one sitting and then when my friends started reading it, we had to extend each chapter with our own thoughts and opinions. An entertaining book – I recommend it to others, not profound or lifted to literature, but well worth the the few bucks.

  • Body Freedom Day: When a Clothed-Minded World Unraveled

The main premise of Body Freedom Day is that it is a book from the future (2056). Author Ward’s clever little device makes the book a delightful read. He starts with a bit of naturist history, bringing the reader up to 2005. Then, he moves into future territory, marking the beginning of the Body Freedom movement as taking place in San Francisco (where else?).

I hadn’t read far, when I noticed a little device author Ward used to add authenticity to the futuristic claim. It was a small affectation but I found it delightful. Since the book was claimed to have been written in 2056, certain more modern word forms were used–words like thru, enuf, tho, altho, nite, and the like. It makes sense. Why wouldn’t words with useless extra letters eventually be changed in the future?

For a naturist, Body Freedom Day is a delight. It makes one long for the day when clothes will cease to be the mandatory condition of society in general. To be able to walk out the front door on a fine summer’s day in the state one left the shower (only dry), to go for a walk, or to drive somewhere on an errand, would be a treat indeed. As you read this book, you start asking yourself, “Why not?” Why not be able to go anywhere without clothing if the weather dictates? Why not be accepted as a person regardless of our state of dress?

From the start, it’s clear that author Ward is a public lands type of naturist. All of the references he uses in Body Freedom Day’s bibliography are from The Naturist Society’s N Magazine. In addition, a portion of the book’s royalties will go to select body freedom organizations.

I don’t necessarily agree with every premise author Ward makes in his extrapolation of the future but I surely had fun on the ride. The writing style is light and humorous and clips along at a merry pace. By the time you get to the end, you’ll be convinced that a clothes-free society is not only a possibility, it’s almost a foregone conclusion. Pick up a copy of Body Freedom Day to read on your next trip to the beach. Better yet, make it a clothing-optional beach.

  • Garage Glamour: Digital Nude and Beauty Photography Made Simple

    0001

The advent of digital photography has dramatically changed the view of many people on nude photography. There was in the past a background fear of exposure, of pictures sent off for development and viewed by any number of people, of extra copies being made, of pictures showing up in unexpected places, of the thought police deciding that this picture violated the obscenity laws. With digital photography all of these risks go away. As the author says, ‘This is an awsome revolution for people who have a passion for glamour but, at the same time, want to be discrete.’

This book is the result of a series of workshops that the author has taught which cover all aspects of glamour photography. He covers clothing, accessories, props, picking the foreground and background so they add to the beauty of your subject. Posing the model which can accent the models best features and conceal any problem areas.

Although this is not a large book, it is a surprisingly complete introduction to the subject.

  • Digital Nude Photography

0001This book is obviously aimed at the digital crowd, and therefore, most of the examples and techniques benefit digital camera users. However, there is a lot of basic information in here that pertains to silver-based images, too. I liked the author’s approach — aimed at someone that would like to do nudes but not really knowing where to start. It’s a good reference and how-to for aspiring photographers. The post-processing sections are also very good tutorials.
Overall, I recommend it — even to aspiring photographers that would like to do nudes with a film camera.

  • The Reluctant Nudist by A W Palmer

    0001

Alan Palmer’s first novel starts in the middle of a hot summer night, somewhere in France, when textile thirty-somethings Ros and Nick book into holiday centre Le Paradis.

They wake to discover a dead body by their cabin and find that they have checked into a naturist resort by mistake. Nudity is obligatory in Le Paradis in the day, but clothing is normal in the evenings at the restaurant and nightclub.

Nick and Ros react differently to this enforced social nudity and their views evolve as their stay lengthens.

    A thoroughly great holiday read.
