Nude Roker Beach Girl Reveals Her...

Skinny-dipper Natalie Graham today said sorry for any embarrassment caused by her naked antics. But the 27-year-old from Roker said she wants to see Wearside get its own nudist beach – complete with naked volleyball.

The Echo reported how Natalie caused quite a stir when she bared all to go paddling with a pal on Roker Beach during last week's warm weather.

The pair had to be told to cover up by lifeguards from Sunderland City Council after they were spotted basking naked near the Smugglers pub – but Natalie said she thought it was a nudist beach.

"I'm really sorry if I embarrassed the man with binoculars," she said.

"We thought it was a nudist beach. That's what people told us on the way down there.

"We only had little skirts on and they said 'you should get yourself down the nudist beach' and we thought 'why not just go skinny dipping' because it was absolutely scorching. It was a great day, absolutely great."

But Natalie's antics came to an end when she was politely prompted to preserve her modesty.

"The man just came over and said 'I don't know quite how to tell you this, but this is not a nudist beach'," she said

"We had our clothes on by then, so perhaps he wasn't so embarrassed – but he must have been watching us for a while. I read in the Echo there was a team of them watching us."

Natalie is not in a long-term relationship, but said the man she has been seeing was all in support of her skinny dipping.

"He said 'you're free spirited, get yourself away. It's a beautiful day, why not enjoy it'," she said.

The 27-year-old said her and her friend, who wants to remain anonymous, had such a good time they think Sunderland should have its own nudist beach.

Natalie, who was recently made redundant from her job in a call centre, said: "I definitely think there should be a nudist beach with volleyball and all that," she said.

"I've always wanted to be a hippy, free spirited and I think something like that would be great."

And Echo readers seem to agree, with 58 per cent of those who took part in our online poll voting in favour of the city having its own nudist beach.

Sunderland City Council is busy putting together plans to revamp the seafront, but a beach where Wearsiders can cavort naked is unlikely to be on the cards.
