The Benefits of Being Nude

by: Jessie Penn

Nudity, Naturist, Naked - Anyway you say it, it means bare or naked. And, being bare has many effects. It's a natural and comfortable way of life. Nudist activities are not about sexuality; nudism is about respect and the ability to accept your body for what it is, and enjoying being one with yourself.

When people are not packaged in clothing or expensive cars, everyone suddenly becomes equal. Clothing creates images, whether true or not, about who we are, and suggestions the person is middle class or affluent. In the eyes of society, a person's value or worth can be dictated by the clothes we wear or the cars we drive.

Some enjoyable benefits of being nude are:

1. Sleeping in the nude allows air to travel over your body, and heat is distributed better. Being naked under blankets, you will be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

2. Garments limit the flow of air over the skin, and inhibit perspiration evaporation.

3. Sunbathing nude may help maintain clear skin, and you will reap the benefits of a tan without those annoying tan lines. But, don't forget to apply sun protection!

4. Fertility may be improved by nudism. Temperatures can affect sperm counts, and the male sex organ can become overheated due to tight or restrictive clothing.

5. Although you may be susceptible to the elements, nude backpacking does eliminate or reduce luggage. However, always include a first aid kit, sun protection, and lotions or sprays to minimize bug bites in your backpack.

6. You will also have less laundry, no worries about staining or spills on your clothing, and you will not have any worries about what to wear.

7. Swimming nude lets you experience the all-over water sensation, reduces chances of contracting a yeast infection from a wet bathing suit, and there will be no sand in your bathing suit bottom!

Social nudity offers many benefits. You'll learn that others have bodies similar to yours and everyone has imperfections. Scars, tattoos or hair become less of an issue than it was before your participation in the nude experience. Children exposed to social nudity grow up accepting their bodies, and able to embrace themselves for what they are. Nudity provides self-acceptance and self-esteem by instilling an acceptance and appreciation that each body is unique to itself.
